Pole Dancing - Basic Pole Dance Moves

Sexy beginner pole dancing moves:

When I was beginning to learn pole dancing, the hardest part was deciding what moves to learn first.  The few people that I knew that pole danced gave me loads of advice on where to start but none of them were instructors and they didn't really know a step by step way of going from knowing zero to having a little confidence about knowing some moves.

So here I have listed some of the easiest and hottest moves to master for the beginner. You can start at the top of the list and work your way down or pick the ones that grab you right off. The most important thing is just to get moving. Learn a move till you feel confident then learn another. Later we'll get to transitional moves so you can smoothly move from one pole dance position to another like a trained pro.

This is one of the hottest moves you can learn and it's very easy to master

Pole Dancing Moves The Basic Pole Stand

Pole Dancing For Beginners: The Basic Pole Stand

The basic pole stand starts with anchoring yourself to the pole.

Step up onto the pole, bend your knee and flex your foot, pushing it into the pole where it bends. Push your knee towards you into the pole at the side. Get this leg up as high as you can and anchor it as firmly as possible.

      Next raise yourself up

Reach up high above your head and grab the pole with both hands, keeping your elbows bent. Engage your abdominals for extra support. Then, keeping your body and head close to the pole, push up with your legs and pull up with your hands to raise yourself onto the pole.

Grip the pole with your legs

Bring your other leg round the front of the pole and push it back hard towards you. You should feel contact between the pole and your heel, your calf, just above the knee and your upper thigh. Make sure both knees are facing forward of the pole and slightly bent for maximum grip.

      Let yourself slide down

Extend your lower leg and release one of your hands to slide down the pole.

Once you feel confident with this basic move, you can experiment with releasing your hands, extending your lower leg to the front, and arching backwards. This is a great way to build strength, balance and prepare your legs for some more challenging upside-down poses.

Pole Dancing helps strip off pounds

By Judy Fortin CNN Medical Correspondent

Pole dancing carries cardiovascular benefits, says Angela Edwards, owner of studio PoleLaTeaz.

The lights were turned down low and the music was pulsing as Kimberly Wright made her way toward a 16-foot tall dance pole to do some tricks.

Wright is not an exotic dancer in a strip club. She's a 38-year-old mother of two from Atlanta, Georgia, looking to get in a decent workout.

"It works the abs, oh my goodness, muscles I didn't even know I had," Wright chuckled.

On this night, Wright is among more than a dozen women of all shapes and sizes -- no men allowed -- attending a beginner class at PoleLaTeaz, an Atlanta dance studio owned by Angela Edwards.

"We get preachers' wives, teachers, nurses, accountants, lawyers, anyone between the age of 18 and 70," Edwards said. "It's not boring...you get to wear fun clothes, listen to good music...and release your inner sexpot."

If online listings across the country are an indication, the popularity of pole dancing is spreading across the country from Southern California to Chicago to the Bible Belt.

A former labor and delivery nurse, Edwards opened her own studio two years ago and now has 400 students. She plans to add another location in the fall.

Edwards demonstrated a few moves during an advanced class later in the evening.

She climbed to the top a pole and, clenching her inner thighs, hung upside down.

"The dancing part is where you get the cardiovascular benefits," she said. Then there's "pole-tricking," or doing specific movements balancing your body weight against the pole, such as the "fireman spin." "That's where you get the weight lifting and weight training," Edwards said.

She mentioned that there is a risk of injury so regardless of their experience, all students start the class with a half-hour warmup using Pilates-like stretches.

Thick mats are placed near the poles as students practice new "tricks," and Edwards encouraged dancers to modify their moves depending on their abilities.

"You see good results," Edwards said. "We have women who come in here 40 to 50 pounds overweight and they drop it in about six to eight months and they get great, nice, hourglass curves."

Cicely Rogers is one of those women who have seen results. "I started last August and I've gone down two dress sizes. I've lost 20 pounds and I feel awesome," she said.

The critical care nurse at an Atlanta hospital admitted that she hurt all over after the first few sessions of pole dancing.

There's another benefit, Rogers said. "This made me feel better about my body. I used to be nervous about my body and try to hide it. Now I'm a lot more open and confident. I stand up straight and feel good about myself."

Rogers is one of the few women wearing shorts and a tank top. Many other students are scantily dressed in lingerie-like outfits.

Almost everyone strapped on stilettos when the dancing got under way. Some of the women said it added to the atmosphere of the class.

"It makes you feel sensual. It makes you feel sexy," said Antigone Locklear, 42, of Atlanta.

Wright said feeling sexy is part of the reason she attended class. Now she's waiting for her husband to install her own dance pole at home.

She smiled. "You know what? I am sexy and yes, pole dancing does put you in the mood."

Pole Dancing Beginners Guide

http://poledancingforbeginners.blogspot.com/2010/12/pole-dancing-basic-pole-dance-moves.htmlHow Do I Begin Learning Pole Dancing?

I got my start in pole dancing when my friends talked about how much fun they had. It made them feel sexy and really boosted their self esteem.

I became a pole dancer without paying for professional lessons, instead I bought a few books and training videos and just did it! At first I practiced with my friends and used their poles, but it wasn't too long before I had to have a pole of my own. I got one of those portable poles so I could take it down and move it easily.

Some of the most important things I learned:

Equipment You will need
* A dance pole - DUH! :-)
* Comfy outfits with bare arms and legs
* Sexy high heels or trainers

Safety First: Before you pole dance, check your pole, make sure it is secure and fitted according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Make sure you have lots of space and nothing nearby that you might bang into.

Don't use lotions

Don't use oils or lotions on your hands or boday, as these make the pole slippery and hazardous.

Wipe down the pole before you start to remove any grease and give you maximum grip.

Always warm up and cool down

When you are pole dancing, you are doing aerobic exercise. You need to be fit and healthy enough to start this physically demanding exercise.

How Do I start Pole Dancing?
Pole dancing  is an empowering, liberating workout that strengthens and tones and builds confidence. If you pay attention to the moves, you will soon notice the grace and skill required to perform the moves. Many pole dancing techniques are actually based on ballet, modern dance, and gymnastic moves. So, why not get that dancer's body and have a little fun while doing so, pole dancing is the ticket.
Pole dancing moves include climbs, static poses, spins and even body inverts. The dancer could even add in some floor work as well as some very sexy filler moves in order to complete their routine. As you are mastering the art of the pole, there are different pole dancing styles that are out there to try and experiment with.
Pole dancing videos are available on Amazon.com to instruct you on the proper technique of each move, which ensures that you're doing the moves safely. Trying climbing moves can be dangerous if you aren't performing it correctly, and if you're like me, having an instructor to follow word-for-word makes me more comfortable. You would be surprised how much faster you can learn pole dancing by watching videos when you're a beginner. You can learn the basic moves, and rewind again and again or watch in slow motion to create your "foundation" of basic pole dancing moves and will be able to build your repertoire of more advanced moves from there.
